Google leaps on EU ruling - rushes What Browser to the limelight
I even tried to join their digital team when I had graduated, but every department I applied for at the time said that I needed to apply elsewhere - I gave up and got a job elsewhere.
From my experience, I would suggest that its likely different departments at head office are doing each of these different things... and as a result, aren't giving a thought on how they could be joined up to be more powerful than they are individually.
I think its admirable that they are trying these new things - most of their competition on the high street is dead or dying, and I still have a lot of friends in an assortment of managerial roles in the company around the country - in stores and at head office, so by diversifying, they will all hopefully still have a prominent role to play in the future of the company.
However, I really think that their digital strategy needs to be joined up a lot more than it is, and has been over the last few years, to get the returns from the web that they are wanting to see.
